Robert Meachem Profile at Pro-Football-Reference

This is the kid the Saints should be using as their complimentary receiver to Marquis Colston. Henderson is a sweaty palmed piece of poo, and Lance Moore, though a good receiver, doesn't have the huge upside that Meachem possesses. His stature is perfect for an NFL WR standing at 6'2" and weighing 210 lbs. He's strong, has good hands, and can run like the winds to boot (4.38 40-yard dash). Unfortunately, Meachem lost his entire rookie season to injury, and didn't get to see enough time last year to showcase his talent. Hopefully the Saints see enough of him in the off-season to incorporate him into their fast and furious offensive ways. If not this year, it will happen for Meachem.
Meachem has a prime opportunity to showcase his 1st round skills this summer with Lance Moore out from his shoulder surgery (and not expected back until right before the pre-season in a best case scenario), and Colston also recovering from a minor micro-fracture surgery. We remain miffed as to why the Saints continue to show faith in the greasy fingered Devery Henderson, but it could just be to Meachem's age and he also has been nursing injuries going back to before his rookie season. He missed his entire first year because of a knee surgery, and then was dinged up in camps last year but was available for much of the season but didn't get on the field much. He had only 12 receptions, even with Colston down for 1/3rd of the season. Net/net, he has a ton more potential than Henderson, so we would draft Meachem higher than him. Make him the 26th WR off of draft boards this summer.
Meachem missed his entire rookie year because of a fairly intrusive knee surgery. He is injury-free now, but that is 16 missed games in two seasons. Have to go yellow because of the unknown.
