Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said the team likely will not use WR Pierre Garcon as a slot receiver this season. WRs Josh Morgan and Leonard Hankerson are more likely to line up at slot receiver. Huddle Up: Mike Shanahan hinted on Monday that Garcon and Morgan would start, with Hankerson working the No. 3 spot. "Weâll let that play out," Shanahan said, "but when you go after a guy like Garçon and you go after a guy like Morgan, youâve got a guy like Leonard Hankerson, you know there are three guys right at the top of the list that are playmakers, and thatâs what weâre looking for." Jabar Gaffney was released and the aging Santana Moss could be a post-June 1 cut.

We've basically known about it for a couple of months now, but the Washington Redskins made it for real Thursday night by selecting Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III with the second pick in the NFL Draft. The 2011 Heisman Trophy winner will join a fierce division but will also join a team with some intriguing offensive options. FANTASY ANALYSIS: I basically wrote about Luck being the No. 1 pick in this draft a couple of days ago when the Colts' GM confirmed the pick. But I haven't written anything about RGIII. Yes, the Redskins overpaid for Pierre Garcon. But with him, Fred Davis, Santana Moss and Roy Helu, Griffin has a bevy of nice weapons to work with. Not to forget that he has very good speed. I'm not saying that he'll repeat Cam Newton's numbers in 2012, but I think he'll have a more productive season from a fantasy aspect than Andrew Luck and, I think he has an outside shot at ending the year around the top-15 at the position.

The Washington Redskins plan is to use WR Pierre Garcon and WR Leonard Hankerson as their starters in 2012. Huddle Up: Garcon, yes. $20.5 million guaranteed. Hankerson? Too soon to say. Remember, the Redskins gave Josh Morgan $7.5m guaranteed. He's way more proven than Hankerson. Santana Moss might be released in a cap move (they would save almost $3 million). And we still have the draft...

The Washington Redskins traded up to get their quarterback of the future last week. Today, they supplied Robert Griffin III with some valuable targets. The biggest acquisition was former Colts WR Pierre Garcon. The Redskins inked him to a five-year deal worth $42.5 million, and it contains $21.5 million guaranteed. Washington didn't stop there, adding former 49er Josh Morgan to a five-year deal worth $12.5 million as well as former Bronco Eddie Royal on a one-year contract. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Not bad for a team that just got stripped of $36 million in salary cap space. Royal reunites with Shanahan and could supplant Jabar Gaffney as the team's No. 1 possession receiver if he stays healthy. Josh Morgan has a lot of talent, but he may be no better than the team's No. 3 WR if Santana Moss is kept around. And $42.5 million with $21.5 guaranteed for Garcon? That's Arian Foster money! He can be a nice down-the-field option for RGIII, but I don't think he'll be a consistent fantasy producer. He certainly won't justify the amount of money he is being given. I would say he's a WR3 in fantasy.
The good news here is that with these guys, Moss and Fred Davis, Griffin will have a ton of options in his rookie season.

The Washington Redskins have signed free-agent WR Pierre Garcon (Colts) to a five-year deal worth $42.5 million with around $21.5 million in guaranteed money. Huddle Up: It's a bigger deal than guys like Anquan Boldin and Greg Jennings received over the last couple of years. Garcon was able to escape the Colts sinkhole and break the bank at the same time. Nice.
