Turning the Corner
As far as Jaguar WRs go, this kid has the most potential of the lot. He has been referred to as an “OTA Wonder” as he routinely astounds coaches and players alike with what he does in those practices- or at least the last two summers, anyway. The problem with Walker is that he hasn’t been able to stay on the field long enough to get anything going in his career. Whether it be various injuries hampering his progress, or unfortunate personal tragedies in the form of mid-season deaths to both his father and best friend, Walker just hasn’t seemed to be able to catch a break… until now. With Jerry Porter being deported, Dennis Northcutt… being cut, and Matt Jones being a coke-head moron, the path has finally been cleared for Walker to get out on the field and show us what he’s made of. Part of that make-up is a perfect WR body at 6’2”, 208 lbs, while another part is his blazing speed as he runs his 40-yard dash in anywhere between 4.28-4.35. Now that he has a positive veteran opposite him in Torry Holt to teach him a thing or two, we can finally see a glimmer of all the stagnated potential breaking out of him in 2009.
This kid is basically the definition of a sleeper. Not many people know about him, but those who do, keep his insane talents a secret for themselves. It’s true that the Jaguars aren’t much of a passing team, but if they find themselves playing from behind again this year like they did much of last year, Walker has all the potential of becoming a 1000-yard receiver and a possible fantasy force very very soon. He's in our sleeper bucket. Target him as a WR3 or 4 this season - in the mid-late rounds of the draft.
He’s had some various injuries over the past couple of years, but he looks to be healthy now and shouldn’t be a worrisome draft pick if chosen.
