Flat out...there is not an uglier player in the league. Ohhh those choppers. If he wasn't the inspiration for the show Ugly Betty, he should have been. He would have been infinitely more effective in the game back when they played with no face masks. One look at that mug and a defender would have been bound to freeze in his steps...or possibly turn to stone. Besides being beaten hard with an ugly stick, he's also not that bright. Ok, he's stupid. If he's not running over pedestrians and bailing on the scene, he's tugging on a bowl and getting caught with a loaded gun. A GM's dream come true.
2008
Marshawn under-delivered in his 2nd season. He was a standout rookie for fantasy owners in 2007 with some fairly solid stats putting up 1,299 total yards and seven total TDs while missing three games due to a sprained ankle. He played in two more games in '08 and posted similar numbers but lost touches to fellow sophomore and backup Fred Jackson (167 touches). Jackson averaged more yards per carry and yards per reception than Lynch last year; a decent clip more. This sets the stage for more of this type of loathsome RBBC situation to develop.
2009 Fantasy Outlook
Marshawn has been suspended for three games to start '09. He showed to OTAs with 15 pounds of added muscle, which no one thought he needed. It remains to be seen if this will cost him some quickness at the line. He's already rolled an ankle in training camp. Between all that and the emergence of Fred Jackson, it's hard to get excited about Lynch... even with TO's arrival. Yeah, TO will force defenses to dedicate a second defensive back to his side of the field, but that also benefits Fred Jackson. There's no guarantee that Trent Edwards will be able to get TO the ball anyway, and if that happens, TO will suck the will to compete out of the entire team. Dick Jauron has no idea what he has coming.
In case we haven't been clear, we remain lukewarm on Lynch in '09. We suppose you could do worse having him as your second RB, but it's tough to buy-in on the guy with all of the risks involved.
