No Starsky and Hutch

Fargas truly is a chip off the old block.  Justin was born the son of actor Antonio Fargas, the man who played Huggy Bear on the famed show "Starsky and Hutch", and it looks like he'll be following in the same footsteps as his father this year.  For the 70 episodes Papa Fargas worked as Huggy Bear on the show, he had to deal with being third fiddle to the world renowned Starsky and Hutch, relegated to the background while only occasionally being allowed to garner the spotlight.  In this case, the apple certainly doesn't fall too far from the tree as Fargas will be taking on quite a similar role this season.

When given the chance, Justin has taken advantage as he ran for over 1,000 yards in 2007 while only playing in 14 games and starting seven.  Even last year, Fargas ended up rushing for 853 yards while splitting carries all season.  However, that shouldn't be the case this year as he is now stuck behind two superior, healthy RBs in the form of Darren McFadden and Michael Bush.

2009 Fantasy Outlook

Fargas' last few years have been quite the roller coaster ride.  In 2007 and 2008, he seemed to be at the right place at the right time as injuries thrust him into starting role each year.  He's taken advantage of those opportunities nicely and turned them into a nice contract for himself, but he'll have to hope for more of the same luck this year as it seems the Raiders are trying to fade him out of the backfield situation more and more.  He'll get his carries, however, as he's earned the trust of the Raider brass, but not as many as last year, and most likely no more than 100 or so.  His only value is as a handcuff.  There isn't a scenario we can fathom where he will receive another 200 carries, short of a season ending injury to McFadden.  He's a waiver-wire guy in smaller leagues, but worth a late rounder in 12 man or more leagues.

Injury Alert

Green

Though he’s had his bumps and bruises that have kept him out of a game or two here and there, he’s never had a serious injury to be worried about.
