Notre Dame wideout Michael Floyd held his Pro Day on Tuesday, showing off the skills scouts and player personnel people have come to know. Floyd displayed exceptional quickness in drills and caught deep passes from former teammate and current Carolina Panthers backup Jimmy Clausen, according to the Chicago Tribune. According to NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock, Floyd looks like a Top 10 prospect. "[T]o me, you have to start at No. 7 with Jacksonville," he said from Notre Dame's Pro Day. "If you get comfortable with Michael off the field and just watch his tape, it's very similar to Justin Blackmon. So if Blackmon's a top six or seven pick, why isn't Floyd a top-10?"

Carolina Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen will be throwing to Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd when he works out at his Pro Day. Clausen and Floyd connected for 16 touchdown passes together while the two were college teammates. Huddle Up: It's a nice get for Floyd to have a legitimate NFL quarterback (withhold your snickers, please) throwing to him. And Clausen can view the session as an audition, seeing as he's not leapfrogging Cam Newton on the Carolina depth chart any time soon.

The Carolina Panthers could consider releasing QB Jimmy Clausen before he receives a $923,000 bonus that would be paid if he is on the roster 14 days after the league's new year begins. The team would save a little more than $1 million in salary cap space if they released Clausen. Huddle Up: Releasing Clausen would be the logical move, as teams generally prefer to have a backup quarterback with a skill set similar to the starter so there wouldn't be much interruption in the offense if the starter went down. And Clausen is to Cam Newton as a tricycle is to a monster truck.
