Jerome Harrison's Profile at Pro-Football-Reference

career stats
Like most running backs Harrison's size (5'9, 205 lbs.), he's had to make up for what he lacks by having something else that stands out and overshadows it. Harrison certainly does as his speed really is something to watch. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds and is as shifty as he is quick. Back at Washington State in 2005, he led the nation in yards with 1900 while also setting various records for both his school and the Pac-10, including most consecutive games rushing for over 100 yards with 16. You don't do these sorts of things if you're not special in some way, and the Browns are beginning to see that. After making the most of his opportunities last year (7.2 yds/carry on 34 rushes, 9.2 yds/rec on 12 catches), the Browns have already stated that they want to get him the ball more this year. Coach Eric Mangini has even hinted that Jerome could be seeing more time on 1st and 2nd downs this year, even if only to spell Jamal Lewis and help keep him fresh. This can only mean good things for both Harrison and for the Browns as this kid just seems like gold whenever he touches the ball.
Harrison's draft value for this season is limited as merely an insurance policy for Jamal Lewis. He is an explosive RB, but we question his ability to ground and pound as a full-time guy. When you are staring down the throat of your empty twelve- pack, go ahead and call this guy's name out to elicit the "Who?" remarks. Then respond "OK" and put on Quadrophenia... and turn it up.
Harrison has seen his fair share of injuries in his short career, but he did suit up for 15 of the 16 games last year and looks to be good to go again in 2009.
