This guy is a tampon. Once possessing otherworldly speed (4.31 40-yard dash in 2001) combined with all the talent in the world to back it up, Charger fans have since had to witness the yearly aging of this former Dolphins star. Back in Miami, his toughness was constantly questioned, which eventually led to his trade to San Diego. With a chance to regain his youth, Chambers looked to have found it for a few weeks, but fell off again last year as it seems his age might be catching up to him. He's 31. That's not old for a WR. After starting the season on fire with five TDs in as many games, he fell off the face of the earth never to return.
The Chargers do not pass enough to support three pass-catchers, and Chumbers is the odd man out. Gates is playing for his next contract, and is too imposing of a target for Big Mouth to ignore. Vincent Jackson is a sick beast and way better than Chumbers will ever be. If he was an RB, we'd believe that he was past his prime and too old, etc. But he's a WR. He should be in the prime of his career, and this guy just doesn't have the heart and guts to kill it. It's disappointing, too, because he is such an incredible talent. He's a backup WR this season. Make him the 24th WR off of the board in your draft this summer.
Chambers is set to repeat what he pulled just a few years ago while in Miami. He has some company in the chart below.

Chambers has only missed four games over his entire nine-year career, but two of those games were last year as he missed games six and seven and never seemed to get back on track for the Bolts after that.
