Buffalo Bills WR Brad Smith averaged 3.7 touches per game last season, counting snaps as quarterback, receiver and kickoff returner. Head coach Chan Gailey said Smith's role should expand in 2012. "I see him as a three-headed monster. Wildcat. Receiver. Special teams. I see him being all three of those and when he walks out there on the field they're not sure what's going to happen," Gailey said. Huddle Up: The Bills talked about using Smith last year but rarely followed through. Gailey is a creative coach; perhaps with a real offseason to work with he'll come up with more ways to put Smith's unique skills to better use.

The possibility of using Buffalo Bills WR Brad Smith more in the Wildcat formation is intriguing to new quarterbacks coach David Lee, who brought the Wildcat to the NFL while with the Miami Dolphins. "He did a great job with the Jets when he was there," Lee said of Smith. "The exciting thing to me about it is ... that he can throw so much better than Ronnie Brown could." Huddle Up: Hmmm... the guy who unleashed the Wildcat in Miami now has a legit QB to work with in Buffalo. Absolutely this is intriguing. However, all it's bound to do is sap some of Fred Jackson's touchdowns and force fantasy owners to chase Smith's numbers from week to week.

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix indicated the team will use WR Brad Smith at quarterback and wide receiver as well as special teams next season as they did this season. Smith could have a bigger impact on the offense next season because he will have a full offseason to learn the offense. Huddle Up: The Buffalo receiving corps is young and could be without Stevie Johnson if he doesn't return via free agency, and the backfield should get Fred Jackson back but is also somewhat unsettled. Smith flashed his skills only briefly with the Bills this season, but with a full training camp of brainstorming the Buffalo coaching staff should find more creative ways to put his skills to good use.

Will be #2 WR for remainder of year
The Buffalo Bills have waited -- and waited -- for Brad Smith to provide a return on investment since making him one of their marquee free agent additions in the offseason. With the season-ending injury to Donald Jones, Smith will have a new role the rest of the season: that as the No. 2 receiver. Gailey said this week there was "no question" Smith had shown him enough to stay in that role. (Buffalo News)
FF Today's Take: The versatile Smith is a play-maker that will likely receive increased touches over the remainder of the season. He may not be a consistent fantasy producer but he has enough upside to be worth a look in deeper leagues.
