Antwaan Randle El Profile at Pro Football Reference
vitals
career stats
Randle El has great utility. He can catch, run, throw and return kicks. He has four passing TDs in over the last five seasons (he was a QB at Indiana University). He has returned one kickoff and five punts for a TDs in his career. He's still working towards that coveted rushing TD.
But unfortunately, this jack of all trades is a master of none. He did post a career high in receptions (53) and his 593 receiving yards were 3rd best in his career. As fantasy goes, those numbers were barely WR6 worthy. And he only scored four TDs as the 2nd receiver. The Redskin offense did struggle through the air last year, putting up only 16.6 points per game-28th in the NFL.

Randle El is considered a marginal fantasy player. The problem is Randle El has a few big games, but they are few and far between. Last year, he only had 2 games when he had more than 70 receiving yards. He's still a threat in the punt return game, but didn't return any for a score this year. The ideal situation for Randle El and the Redskins would be to stick him in the slot as the 3rd receiver because that's when he does the most damage and where he flourished alongside Hines Ward and Plaxico Burress in Pittsburgh.
But the Redskins don't have another receiver to complement Santana Moss, and they are hoping that 2nd-year player Devin Thomas can become that guy this year. If that's the case, Randle El's numbers should improve slightly. He still will be the 3rd most targeted guy on the offense (87 passes were thrown his way last year, compared to 138 for Moss and 111 for Cooley). He's a viable No. 3/4 fantasy receiver in most leagues. If possible, draft him in the later rounds as your 4th wide receiver. But if you are going for talent at other positions, you could do worse than have him as your starting 3rd receiver.
'Twaan has only missed one game in his entire career.
