San Francisco 49ers RB Anthony Dixon is expected to be on the roster bubble once training camp begins and will have to win a roster spot with his play. Huddle Up: The arrival of Brandon Jacobs makes Dixon expendable. The former Mississippi State star was drafted by the prior regime. He's a hard runner, however, and won't have a hard time finding another gig.

49ers RB could be limited with ankle/knee injuries
Given Gore's health status - and the 49ers' upcoming schedule - it's possible the Niners will use their full complement of backs against Arizona. San Francisco will visit the Ravens on Thanksgiving, four days after playing the Cardinals. (San Francisco Chronicle)
FF Today's Take: Gore could certainly use the rest with the 49ers stretching their almost insurrmountable lead in the NFC West. Expect Kendall Hunter and Anthony Dixon to play a part in San Francisco's upcoming games with Gore's touches being limited.

San Francisco 49ers RB Kendall Hunter is currently the third running back on the depth chart but is competing with RB Anthony Dixon for the No. 2 running back job. Huddle Up: It looks like Dixon has held off the preseason phenom Hunter. It's going to be interesting to see if the 49ers try to get Hunter snaps in the regular season because he truly is a spark. Dixon, meanwhile, has been quiet this preseason (27 carries for 84 yards) but he's got power and is reliable in pass protection.
